As he discovered Harald Bluetooth was the one who united the different Danish groups, he decided to codename Bluetooth after him, as at that time Bluetooth was meant to connect phones with PC.
Also the symbol was derived from Younger Futhark runes Runic letter (Hagall) (ᚼ) and Runic letter (Bjarkan) (ᛒ), Harald’s initials.
